Franciscan Friars Next Door

During Mexico’s Cristero Wars (1926-1940), Franciscan priests and seminarians escaped to Hebbronville, Texas so they could continue practicing their Catholic faith and training seminarians beyond the reach of Mexico's anti-Catholic President Plutarco Elias Calles.

The 2012 epic historical war movie "For the Greater Glory" staring Peter O'Toole tells the story of the war in Mexico that so profoundly shaped the history of Hebbronville.

Historic Interior - Tiles

The oil rich Adelberto Martinez built the Spanish Colonial Villa in the 1930’s and spared no expense.

Encaustic tiles adorn the first floor rooms each room with its own custom floor design.

Today, La Villa features period antique furniture in every room and offers 5 rooms or suites.
